Accomodation

There are a huge range of places to stay in Nafplio to suit all budgets. In peak season I would recommend booking in advance.

On our first visit, we stayed at the wonderful The Aetoma Hotel which gets great reviews everywhere. The rooms are beautifully decorated and the breakfast is wonderful. We have stayed at Aetoma several times now and I highly recommend it.

If you are on a budget there are loads of centrally located pensions and guest houses. Have a peek at Tripadvisor and take your pick.

Wining

Syntagma Square, early evening.

There are plenty of taverna’s and cafe’s to choose from. Leashia and I like to sit in the main square people watching as the sun sets and have a drinky [or two] before heading out for dinner. There are more options by the port away from the main square.

Dining

We have had many lunches and evening meals in Nafplio and enjoyed every one. Our favrit places include- Vassilis, Ta Fanaria, Aiolos and Kastro – Karima in the old town. I Folia on the waterfront is a little more expensive than some but they do serve wonderful fish and seafood dishes. On our last visit to Nafplio Leashia and I had a lovely [and large] meal at Mitato BBQ and Grill near Syntagma Square.

Away from the old town I can recommend Pidalio which is on the main road only a few minutes walk away from the old town. Lichnari is further into the modern town centre and is worth seeking out if you want to a change from the hustle and bustle of the touristy area. What it lacks in location is more than made up by the wonderful food and service.

To be honest it’s hard to go wrong, just take your pick. It’s lovely to eat outside in a small street soaking up the atmosphere.

Oh, and there are also loads of places to get ice cream!
