My first experience of Norway was with Leashia on the wonderful Hurtigruten Coastal Voyage between Bergen and Tromso in a bitterly cold February in 2012. We extended our trip by staying a couple of extra nights in Tromso. We subsequently returned to Bergen two years later for a few nights when we had a great experience on the Flam Railway which was part of the Norway in a Nutshell Tour.

Our experience of Norway has been beautiful but this beauty comes at a cost – it is expensive, even moreso than Iceland methinks, so making these trips a bit more affordable was important.
The Northern Lights are free of course and so are the amazing views which helps. We did stay in hotels on our trips to Tromso and Bergen but next time I would consider Airbnb.
