This is one of my favouritist [heehee] places in The Peloponnese. A series of pools fed by streams in a beautiful green wooded valley west of Kalamata, off the main road to Pylos and near the village of Haravgi.

It’s a ten minute walk from the car park. Take water and snacks, a swimming costume, towel and wear sturdy shoes or trainers [not flipflops!] as it’s a bit of a scramble over rocks at times, so it is not suitable if you have a walking disablity.

Turning right at the wooded area takes you to a [very] rough path which runs by the stream. Follow the path until you reach the freezing cold and very deep, beautifully refreshing plunge pool which is fed by waterfalls.

If you turn left at the wooded area the path follows the stream to a lake. Leashia flatly refused to go any further when the path degenerated into iron rungs and precarious planks nailed to a cliff! It makes sense to go this way first before heading back for a dip in the pool if you want to make the most of your visit.

Not for Leashia
