This area surrounds the Laconian Gulf and takes in the two middle fingers of The Peloponnese.

There are some amazing places to visit. The most well known is probably Monemvasia, a medieval town on a rock but there are a lot more – Kyparissi, a pretty fishing village on the edge of the Myrtoon Sea as well as the historic sites of Mystra and Geraki. There is also the modern town of Sparta and the wonderful drive there from Kalamata through the Langada Pass. Kastania Cave to the south is simply phenomenal.

Crumbling castles and hairy mountain drives, with stupendous views thrown in for free, make this remote area a unique and rewarding experience for the visitor.

Mesochori Castle, near nowhere in particular.
