Mycenae is thought be be around 3,500 years old. There are tombs, imposing walls and a tunnel to explore.
The tunnel is known as The Secret Cistern, where over 100 steps descend into the rock. It is fun descending into the depths if you like that sort of thing. It is not so much fun ascending. The Treasury of Atreus is actually a magnificent and large Tholos Tomb, with no treasure.
The setting is spectacular as one would expect. It is likely to be crowded as it is within easy reach from Athens.
