South of the Old Town is Kazmierz. The Jewish revival began in Kazmierz after the Second World War. Jewish restaurants, synagogues, museums and memorials are to be found here.

The Remuh Synagogue which was built in the 16th Century is next to a Jewish Cemetery where there are memorials to those who perished in the Holocaust. There are several other synagogues in the area: The Old Synagogue, Isaac Synagogue and Tempel Synagogue.

Galicia Jewish Museum.

The Galicia Jewish Museum had an amazing photographic exhibition on Jewish culture when we visited. The photographs on display related to the Holocaust and were powerful and emotive. The image below of a young Jewish girl has haunted me since this visit.
