Leashia and I loved our visit to Budapest, it had so much to offer: wonderful architecture, a turbulent history, superb views and great food. Ok, many other cities have that too but then there are also the thermal baths, the Danube and the quirky nightlife none of which are too demanding on your pocket.

I have broken Budapest into convenient sections. East of the Danube is the Parliament Area, Jewish Quarter and City Park. West of the Danube is Obuda and the Castle District with the Buda Hills beyond with North Budapest straddling the river. We did not really venture into Southern Pest so we missed out on Memento Park with its Communist memorials but we will return! [see links at the bottom of the page]

It is easy and inexpensive to get to Budapest from the airport, we grabbed a taxi but other options include an Airport Shuttle bus or City Bus. To get around the city we used the Metro which is cheap and efficient and not complicated as there are only three lines. We did not use the trams.
