Galaxidi is an attractive town on a headland with a double harbour overlooking the Gulf of Corinth. There are only a couple of access roads to the town which makes it feel like an island. It was once a major harbour town but is now a sleepy and attractive place to visit, an ideal place to relax if you are on the way to, or returning from Delphi. We stayed at the charming Hotel Galaxidi which was comfortable, central and offered a wonderful breakfast.

It’s the perfect place for a mooch along the cobbled streets taking in the 19th century mansions that used to belong to the shipowners as well as several churches and the Nautical Museum of Galaxidi and Folklore Museum.

There’s not much remaining of the ancient town now however, there are only a few large rocks visible. But there are plenty of eating and drinking opportunities in the town centre and by Galaxidi Harbour where you can take in the view of the gulf and relax.
