We only had three nights in Nice and all eateries below were all recommended by our hosts Karin and Philippe, all were wonderful! We didn’t go to any bars, but did our drinking at the Restaurants and at Karin and Philipe’s home.

La Socca D’or

We had our first meal in Nice here and our first Socca, which is a chickpea based pancake. The restaurant is nestled in a small side street just north of the Old Port. We sat outside but there are tables inside too. The food, wine and company was great. A wonderful introduction to Cuisine Niçoise.

La Gaité-Nallino

This restaurant is in the Cimiez district and has an air of tranquility in contrast to the buzz of the Old Town. It offers traditional Niçoise cuisine and eveything is home made, including the pasta, and everything we were ordered was delicious.

Le Safari

Le Safari is centrally located on Cours Saleya. When we visited it was busy but the food and service was exceptional and it was well worth waiting for a table as we had not booked in advance. We had a lovely spot looking out onto the terrace and the traditional food was delightful.

Oui jelato.

Nice has plenty of Ice Cream parlours dotted about, especially around Place Rossetti. Oui, jelato is around the corner from there, near the Palais de Justice. Quality ice cream does not come cheap but it’s so good it makes your eyes roll.
