The pretty town of Nafplio and the ancient sites of Epidavros and Mycenae are the major draws to the Argolid. There is plenty more to discover of course – Methana and its volcano, caves and sink holes, castles, churches in caves and little visited ancient sites.

It’s easy to get to Nafplio from Kalamata in the south and Athens in the north on the new motorway.
